Methods to avoid bubble formation in heat shrink tapes

2023,12,10
As we all know, Heat Shrink Sleeves are a very good anti-corrosion material, widely used in pipeline construction in various construction industries to better protect the use of products. However, sometimes products may cause bubbles due to construction environment, construction methods, or long usage time, which can affect product use. Therefore, we need to clarify the causes and solve them reasonably. After the construction of heat shrink band products, if there are bubbles or bubbles, it will lead to poor sealing. If left unchecked, the bubbles will become larger and larger, causing the product and pipe fittings to fall off. So in order to ensure the use of adhesive tape, it is necessary to master the corresponding solutions and understand the reasons.

1. When storing Heat Shrink Tape, attention should be paid to avoiding light and cool places, and they should not be affected by moisture. If there is moisture, the construction of heat shrink sleeves may cause swelling.

2. Quality issues with heat shrink tape products, such as poor base materials and inappropriate irradiation doses, can all lead to non fire resistance and large area delamination of the heat shrink tape.

During the construction process of heat shrink sleeves, the primer was applied unevenly and the tension of the Heat Shrink Sleeve was insufficient.

4. The construction of workers is not standardized. When shrinking, it is necessary to start from the middle position and slowly heat evenly, from the bottom of the pipe to the top of the pipe, in order to make it shrink more evenly. After the shrinkage is completed, special attention should be paid when tempering. The surface temperature of the pipe should be kept above 120 degrees Celsius for three to five minutes, which can make the inner layer of adhesive melt more fully and ensure its sealing, Especially for reinforced heat shrink bands with a thickness of over 2.0mm, their construction should be standardized.

5. Failure to blow out the pipes before construction results in sand and dust, especially in windy and sandy environments, which can cause the surface of the primer to be coated with sand and dust, affecting the adhesion between the tape and the primer. Areas that are not properly adhered are prone to bulging.

The reasons for the occurrence of bubbles in the heat shrink band need to be comprehensively analyzed. In order to eliminate them, it is necessary to strictly follow the production process requirements and standardize the construction during the initial construction

Based on the above understanding, the reasons and solutions for the occurrence of bubbles in heat shrink sleeves are discussed. Therefore, in order to avoid this phenomenon during construction, in addition to following the above operations, regular inspections and maintenance should also be carried out to ensure quality and effectively improve usage efficiency.

6. Selection of heat shrink bands

Different types of heat shrink tapes have different materials and processing techniques. When selecting heat shrink tapes for 2PE Heat Shrink Tape, 3LPE Heat Shrink Sleeves, and 3LPP Wrap Around Sleeves, it is important to choose high-quality and finely crafted heat shrink tapes to reduce the generation of bubbles.
