China Russia East Gas Pipeline celebrated its fourth anniversary of production

On December 2nd, the China Russia East Gas Pipeline celebrated its fourth anniversary of production and ventilation, with a cumulative gas transmission volume exceeding 50 billion cubic meters. This year, the cumulative gas transmission has exceeded 20 billion cubic meters, setting a new historical high.

The China Russia East Line is the first natural gas pipeline project in China to adopt a 1422mm ultra large diameter, X80 high steel grade, 12 megapascals high pressure grade, and world-class level. It starts from the Heihe River in Heilongjiang Province in the north and ends in Shanghai in the south, with a total length of 5111 kilometers, and is approved for construction in three sections: north, middle, and south. On December 2, 2019, the northern section of the China Russia East Line was officially put into operation for ventilation, and it has been operating safely for more than 1400 days in the past 4 years.

Since the production of the China Russia East Line, the gas transmission volume has been increasing year by year. Currently, the annual gas transmission volume has increased from 5 billion cubic meters at the beginning of production to 20 billion cubic meters. It is expected to further increase in 2024, significantly improving the natural gas supply capacity of the Northeast, North China, and East China regions, and providing energy support for the economic development along the line.

The China Russia East Line is the third cross-border natural gas long-distance pipeline to supply gas to China, following the Central Asia Pipeline and the China Myanmar Pipeline. It is an important component of China's four major energy strategic channels, the Northeast Passage, and its full connectivity is of great significance for building a new pattern of "four strategic channels+five vertical and five horizontal" natural gas pipeline network in China during the 14th Five Year Plan period and better ensuring national energy security.

With the successive production of various pipelines from Heilongjiang Heihe to Taixing in Jiangsu along the China Russia East Line, the eastern energy channel of China is fully connected. Clean energy from Siberia enters the Xiaoxing'an Mountains, injecting strong impetus into energy security and high-quality development in China's three eastern provinces, Beijing Tianjin Hebei, Bohai Rim, and Yangtze River Delta region.
